INTERNAL QUALITY AUDITORS PREPARE FOR A TOUGHER YET MEANINGFUL TASK
LGU-Gensan, driven by its vision to be the newest local government unit to be ISO certified, has set its foot forward to achieving one of its ultimate goal, an ISO certification. ISO 9001:2015 Standards or Quality Management System helps coordinate and direct each department activities to meet customer and regulatory requirements while improving its effectiveness and efficiency on a continuous basis.
To ensure the implementation of the standards, 63 Internal Quality Auditors (IQAs) across the LGU were trained on the recently conducted Comprehensive Internal Quality Audit Training for ISO 9001:2015. IQAs shall take the lead in making sure that the standards are established and maintained and ensure that an organization’s risk management, governance and internal control processes are operating effectively. The training also aims to capacitate the IQAs on how to conduct internal audit as well as how to prepare documentary requirements consequential from the audit. In this way, IQAs will determine and screen possible occurrence of non-conformities and address such with the correction and corrective action by the concerned office.
At the end of the training, a mock audit was done to simulate all the participants on the audit proper with which IQAs were also taught of what characteristics an internal auditor should possess especially in handling audit activities.
Moreover, the LGU aims to have its first leg of Internal Audit on January 16-26, 2022 and hopefully have its certification before the end of first semester next year.
